About

"Born Again Christian who loves technology. Wondering when I will get every electronic device I want."

Hello, and welcome to my little piece of real estate on the Internet! My name is Michael, and this is one of the many places where I share my thoughts, experiences, and interests. My main online home is now Michael Reflects, but I still enjoy maintaining my other little corners of the Internet.

Who Am I?

I'm a 57-year-old Saved, Bible-believing Baptist Christian and a natural-born Floridian American with proud Polish ancestry. While I have a passion for computers and new technologies, life circumstances led me to pause my pursuit of an IT degree. That hasn't stopped me from learning on my own. I enjoy diving into technology, experimenting with new things, and finding ways to use them in my daily life.

My Journey

After high school and two years of college, I spent 18 years working in state and local government before retiring. Currently, I'm a Pharmacy Technician and have been promoted to Pharmacy Purchasing Agent. It's a fulfilling role that also allows me to explore and integrate technology into my work.

Music and More

Music has always played an important role in my life. I learned to play the trombone during my school years and even played in college. My time with music nurtured my love for Classical, Gospel, and Christian music. Although I don't actively play anymore, I still treasure my trombone and the memories it represents.

My Current Interests

Technology, blogging, and the open Internet are some of my biggest interests. I enjoy experimenting with computers, software, self-hosting, artificial intelligence, and new technologies, particularly when they give people more control over their own digital lives.

Over the years, I've established several little homes around the Internet. My primary home is now Michael Reflects, where I share my thoughts, observations, and whatever else happens to catch my attention.

My Other Blogging Homes

I've been blogging since 2001, and I enjoy exploring different platforms and ways to publish my thoughts. In addition to Michael Reflects, I maintain several other websites:

  • Micro.blog - One of my longtime blogging homes and a wonderful community of independent writers.
  • Blogger - My little corner for pondering whatever comes to mind, which is where you're reading this!
  • Scribbles - Another home for my writing and personal musings.
  • Write.as - A simple, distraction-free place for writing.
  • Inkwell.social - A social journaling community that brings together personal writing, community interaction, and the open social web. I'm also proud to be Founding Member #2.

Each platform offers something a little different, and I enjoy having the freedom to publish across different services rather than relying entirely on one company. I believe there's still plenty of room on the Internet for independent writers and personal websites.

Find Me Around the Social Web

I'm also active in various corners of the Fediverse and decentralized social web. You can find me on:

  • Mastodon - My home in the Mastodon community.
  • Bluesky - Another place where I share thoughts and connect with others.
  • Sharkey - My presence on a different flavor of the Fediverse.
  • Nostr (Ditto) - My decentralized social identity, where I experiment with Nostr and operate my own relays.
  • My PieFed Instance - My own corner of the Threadiverse, where communities and discussions connect across the open social web.
  • PeerTube - My independent video-sharing home, built around a decentralized alternative to traditional video platforms.

One of the things I find most interesting about these platforms is how they approach identity, ownership, privacy, and communication differently. I'm fascinated by the idea that people should be able to communicate and share information without being tied to a single company or platform.

I believe the Internet is a much more interesting place when individuals can maintain their own websites, experiment with new technologies, and connect with one another freely. The independent web, the Fediverse, and decentralized networks are all part of that vision, even if we're still figuring out how to make everything work together.

Thank You!
